Dropbox, Google Cloud partner to deliver cross-platform integrations

Google's Slack Competitor Hangouts Chat Launches For Businesses Using G Suite

"We want to make it easy for our users to work across devices with the tools they love", said Dropbox's VP of Engineering, Tony Lee.

Dropbox and Google have announced a new partnership revolving around Dropbox's core functionality and Google's Cloud and popular G Suite of applications.

According to official spokespeople of Google and Alphabet, Hangouts Chat will be gradually rolled out to every single G Suite user on the face of planet Earth over the next week, with all roll-outs slated to be finished by March 7, 2018. Furthermore, collaboration is secure, with Dropbox admins able to manage Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides alongside other Dropbox content.

For some odd reason, Google and Dropbox have never entered into partnerships despite how similar their services are, particularly Dropbox and Google Drive's storage solutions.

This initiative has been worked upon to help deliver improved productivity for Dropbox users who also use Google productivity and collaboration tools.

A new partnership between Dropbox and Google Cloud will allows users to more effectively leverage G Suite tools across the Dropbox platform. "Working with Dropbox to make our apps work better together helps our customers focus their time on work that matters".

Additionally, Dropbox will integrate with Google Hangouts Chat, the Slack-a-like platform from Google that was finally removed from beta yesterday after more than a year.

Both companies are still trying to work out exactly how G Suite and Dropbox integrations are going to work, but they'll be available by the end of the year, said Clark. The integration will also allow users to search for, share and preview Dropbox files in Google Hangouts.
