The Prime Minister added that though he will be a part of the agitation, his work will continue uninterrupted. Almost 250 Parliament hours were wasted due to the disruptions, at an expense of Rs 9 crore per day.

On the other hand, 12 villages were cleared of fighters during an ongoing operation in the Nijrab district of central Kapisa province, police spokesman Mohammad Ayub Yousafzai said. The province is reportedly under Taliban control.

The militants killed district governor Ali Dost Shams, his bodyguards, seven police officers and five government intelligence agents, he said.

The new agencies based in Kabul have expressed their inability to confirm the casualty figures because of the remoteness of the area.

He said eight Taliban, including a notorious commander, were killed in the overnight raid.

The Taliban is under pressure to take up President Ashraf Ghani´s offer of peace talks but so far the group has not responded directly to the proposal.
