Kristen Stewart flouts footwear ban at Cannes Film Festival

Lebanese actress Manal Issa from'My Favourite Fabric, protests at the premiere of'Solo A Star Wars Story at Cannes on Tuesday after Israeli soldiers killed 60 Palestinians and wounded hundreds in mass protests on the Gaza border on Monday. Wit

Lebanese actress Manal Issa raised a sign which said "stop the attack on Gaza" while walking the Cannes Film festival red carpet to draw attention to the Israeli army's killing of Palestinians on the Gaza border a day earlier.

As reported by the Telegraph, Kristen Stewart was attending the premiere of her movie BlacKkKlansman when she made a decision to ditch her black Louboutins and walk up the stairs barefoot. The film, by Spike Lee, stars Corey Hawkins and Topher Grace and takes on the checkered history of the Ku Klux Klan. Another user tweeted, "Hooray for #KristenStewart taking off her high heels at Cannes, what a ludicrous rule!"

The actress was protesting the requirement to wear heels. But there's more to Kristen removing her heels than just discomfort.

In an effort to put an end to the age-old sexist tradition, the member of the jury, Kristen has begun speaking out against the dress code and the sexist fashion expectations at the event.

This peaceful protest was seen on the red carpet before the premiere of "Solo: A Star Wars story". "Today, we stand here in solidarity with the people who have lost their lives and loved ones", she said. You can not come in.' Then (I'm going to say), 'Neither is my friend. She went on to say, "Things have to change immediately". It's just like you simply can not ask me to do something that you are not asking him. "I get the black-tie thing but you should be able to do either version, flats or heels".

Well, this year Kristen put her money where her mouth is and literally kicked off her heels in front of the world's media. That same year, Footwear News reported that Kristen Stewart removed another pair of Louboutin pumps and walked across a lawn during a Cannes photo call.
