KEY2: The iconic BlackBerry gets a new keyboard and dual cameras

Here’s the sequel to the surprisingly nice Black Berry KeyOne

The Key2's power button has moved to the right edge, and sits underneath the volume rocker switch within easy thumb reach (or left hand index finger).

It's really unusual to see so much RAM mated to a midrange processor, but considering the crowd BlackBerry is courting here - power users who run multiwindow apps, sift through PDFs and constantly switch tasks - the extra RAM does sound as it though it would prove more beneficial than the 845's speedier clock cycles alone. They're matte finish, too, with a new fret design that tweaks the key spacing. Instead of being glossy, the keys are now less slippery and a lot grippier.

With the revival of the BlackBerry brand as a Android phone, market share has started creeping back up, reaching three per cent in Canada previous year, according to comScore. With the Key2, all that has changed.

Following a year on from the resurrection of the keyboard-toting BlackBerry KeyOne, the Key2 has just been unveiled at an event in NY. This helps you feel your way around the keyboard. But it will cost you $100 more than previous year.

Where the Key2 differs is with a new key called the Speed Key. A new interface presents a much cleaner look for this app, quickly alerting you to any possible problems.

The display is unchanged since the KeyOne.

Sitting above the keyboard is a good-looking, 4.5-inch LCD screen and this has been pushed further up to make room for the larger keys.

Canada rejects U.S. offer to end trilateral deal
The 1812 reference may prove the bizarreness of the entire argument, but it also points to a more troubling, historical lesson. By the time the news reached the other side of the Atlantic, the United States had already declared war against Britain.

While the resolution may not seem like all that, it's pretty sharp. Under the hood, they have updated the processor to a more powerful Snapdragon 660 unit with 6GB of RAM.

Both offer expandable storage thanks to MicroSD support.

To most people, BlackBerry might seem like a part of ancient history given its status as one of the pioneers within the smartphone business but don't get it wrong: the brand is still alive.

You shouldn't even have to think about charging during the day, according to BlackBerry Mobile. For the KEY2, that means Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660 with 2.2 GHz and 1.8 GHz octacores.

Under the agreement between the two firms, Canada's BlackBerry will remain in control of software and security on smartphones, while TCL will produce handsets powered by Google Android software, abandoning the former BlackBerry OS software. This year, the company has opted to follow the trend of implementing a dual camera system.

As for camera specifications, the BlackBerry KEY2 sports a horizontal dual camera setup with two 12-megapixel rear sensors that include Dual Tone LED flash, HDR, 4K video recording at 30FPS, and dual PDAF. BlackBerry is touting improved low-light performance as well as better electronic-image stabilization this time around.
