Police officer fatally shoots homeowner who killed intruder

Colorado police fatally shoot armed homeowner who killed intruder

A Colorado police officer fatally shot a man minutes after the man killed someone who broke into his home, authorities said.

Multiple people called 911 just before 1:30 a.m. Monday, reporting a disturbance.

Officers arrived on scene and heard muffled gunshots from inside the home, sparking bedlam in the east Denver suburb.

"Further investigation revealed the armed male encountered by the officer was a resident of the home", Metz said in the statement. That juvenile was taken to the hospital after receiving injuries from that intruder.

An injured juvenile was also found near the scene of the intruder's shooting, and taken to a local hospital for serious but not life-threatening injuries. Officers say the armed resident fatally shot him. 'We are providing assistance through our victim advocates to help the family of the deceased resident through this very hard time'.

The armed man, however, was identified as Richard "Gary" Black Jr.by Siddhartha Rathod, a lawyer representing his family's estate.

WhatsApp Gains Group Video and Voice Calling
Group voice and video calling is not a new feature, as other apps such as Google Hangouts have supported it for a long time. With the latest update, both Android and iOS users can now hold audio and video conversations with up to four people.

The police department voice mail ends with an appeal: "Thank you for calling the city of Aurora, the safest large city in Colorado".

The department has promised to cooperate with the Aurora Police Major Crimes Unit and the Denver Police Department, the two entities conducting the investigation.

The officer involved in the shooting was placed on paid administrative reassignment, per department policy, the Post said.

Findings will be turned over to the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office, which will determine whether any criminal charges will be filed against any involved person, the office said in a release.

Aurora Police Chief Nicholas Metz has disclosed some limited information in connection with the incident.

Police have not yet released the identity of either the homeowner or the intruder.
