Anonymous White House op-ed sparks Twitter jokes, parodies

Look She wore her long hair in a low bun with a few strands pulled out at the front for a more relaxed touch

Top aides to Donald Trump scrambled on Thursday to deny authorship of an anonymous New York Times opinion column that slammed the US president's leadership style and described "a quiet resistance" to him within his own administration.

Rudy Giuliani, the president's attorney, suggested that it "would be appropriate" for Trump to ask for a formal investigation into the identity of the op-ed author.

"We've reached an all time low", he told the crowd. "If you don't like your job and you're disgruntled, because of what this president has done, you can find another job but I think it's wrong and disingenuous to send something to the "New York Times without your name attached to make accusations that are unfounded and clearly can't be responded to".

The coup of publishing a column by an anonymous Trump administration official bashing the boss could backfire on The New York Times if the author is unmasked and turns out to be a little-known person, or if the newspaper's own reporters solve the puzzle. "The @nytimes should be ashamed and so should the person who wrote the false, illogical, and gutless op-ed", spokesman Jarrod Agen said on Twitter.

If the person is not among the 20 top people in the administration, "the Times just gets creamed", said Tom Bettag, a veteran news producer and now a University of Maryland journalism instructor.

By email, by tweet and on camera, the denials paraded in from Cabinet-level officials - and even vice president Mike Pence - apparently crafted for an audience of one, seated in the Oval Office.

Massachusetts Senator Elisabeth Warren tweeted: "If senior officials believe the president is unfit, they should stop hiding behind anonymous op-eds and leaking info to Bob Woodward, and do what the Constitution demands they do: invoke the 25th Amendment and remove this president from office".

It was reported that Melania Trump or even fellow Republican Mike Pence because of the usage of the word "lodestar" might have been behind the explosive op-ed that surfaced yesterday via the New York Times.

Colin Kaepernick Nike Deal
He called the move by Nike a "calculated risk", and says it's one that will pay off because "even negative press is good press". The NFL released a statement on Tuesday saying the issues raised by Kaepernick "deserve our attention and action".

"The Deep State and the Left, and their vehicle, the Fake News Media, are going insane - & they don't know what to do", he tweeted on Thursday morning.

The author's identity is known to the opinion page editors of the Times, the newspaper said. "This coward should do the right thing and resign".

This morning, Press Secretary Sarah Sanders put a bit of a fork in it, saying that any inquiries about the matter should go to the New York Times from now on.

Meanwhile, Trump supporters will buy the President's argument, Dr Charles Bullock, professor of political science at the University of Georgia, told The Straits Times.

The tactic echoed something Trump did during the 2016 campaign, when he retaliated against Republican Sen.

But "for Democrats, it confirms their worst suspicions". Here are CNN's 13 most likely candidates.

"I'm draining the Swamp, and the Swamp is trying to fight back". "Because if you're inside the White House, pretending to be loyal to the president but secretly thwarting the president to protect the rest of us from him, why would you tell us?"
