Deputy attorney general plotted to oust Trump

Deputy Attorney General suggested secretly taping Trump

In an interview set to air on Sunday on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace, anchor Chris Wallace asked Secretary of State Mike Pompeo about the New York Times bombshell claiming Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein considered secretly recording President Donald Trump and recruiting cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment.

White House insiders reportedly believe former Federal Bureau of Investigation deputy director Andrew McCabe's team planted a story in the press suggesting Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is conspiring against the president, according to Politico on Saturday.

While it was unclear what Trump was referring to, a source with knowledge of the matter said Horowitz's office also is conducting a review of the FBI's counter-intelligence investigation on Trump campaign associates' ties to Russian Federation, which began in July 2016.

Lieu's comments followed the New York Times' bombshell report Friday afternoon detailing comments Rosenstein reportedly made early in Trump's presidency.

The deputy attorney general's remarks were reported by the New York Times and confirmed by other outlets.

"We have great people in the Department of Justice", Trump told a Missouri rally in an extended riff on his concerns with his own Department of Justice. "But there's a lingering stench and we're going to get rid of that, too".

Given Mr Rosenstein's position overseeing Robert Mueller and the Russian Federation probe, any move against him by the president would be fraught with political peril.

McCabe has no knowledge of how the memos were made available, said his lawyer Michael Bromwich.

Rosenstein, the country's 37th deputy USA attorney general, graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in economics in 1986, according to his official biography on the Department of Justice website.

Kavanaugh accuser has until Saturday to decide on testifying — NY Times
This counteroffer reportedly requires Prof Ford to testify before Judge Kavanaugh, which goes against one of her conditions. On the Senate floor Friday, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell , R-Ky., expressed confidence Kavanaugh will be confirmed.

After U.S. attorney General Jeff sessions in 2017 recused himself in the investigation with respect to RF interference in U.S. elections, was appointed spectracolor Robert Mueller, who headed the investigation. Rosenstein, they told the Times, was out to get the president.

The saga features two of the president's biggest targets for public criticism, McCabe and Rosenstein, both of whom he blames for an investigation he calls a "witch hunt".

Rosenstein issued a second statement not long after the president spoke. McCabe's written account from that day also says Rosenstein raised the possibility of an effort to invoke the 25th Amendment, while Page's accounts of the same discussion do not mention that, the person said.

News organizations reported differing accounts Monday morning, including that Rosenstein resigned, that he was sacked, and that he was leaving the administration.

Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said the Times story "must not be used as a pretext for the corrupt objective of firing Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein in order to install an official who will allow the president to interfere with the special counsel's investigation".

Rep. Mark Meadows, a North Carolina Republican who chairs the conservative Freedom Caucus, said in a tweet that "if this story is true, it underscores a gravely troubling culture at FBI/DOJ and the need for FULL transparency".

Rosenstein initiated discussions about the U.S. Constitution's 25th Amendment, the Times and Post reported.

Those that do not know who Rod Rosenstein is, he is United States Deputy Attorney General. Absolutely Shocked! Ohhh, who are we kidding at this point?

Rosenstein has invited the ire of Democrats and Republicans alike.
