India Slams Pakistani PM Imran Khan for His ‘Pakistan Wants Peace’ Comment

Pakistan and India begin construction of 'corridor of peace'

As leaders from both sides talked of peace during the foundation stone laying ceremony of historic Kartarour corridor, a pro-Khalistan leader considered with ties to terrorist Hafiz Saeed was spotted with Pakistan Army chief General Qamar Bajwa.

In his tweet, the Spokesperson of the Foreign Office Dr Muhammad Faisal said, "The world comes together for the #PakistanKartarpurSpirit - diplomats attending the groundbreaking ceremony".

"The Kartarpur Sahib corridor that is being opened, it needs to be seen in isolation".

Sidhu crossed the worldwide border at Wagah and was received by Pakistani authorities.

"If France and Germany who fought several wars can live in peace, why can't India and Pakistan", Imran Khan said.

Indian Member of Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla (C) holds a pot containing water from the Sikh Golden Temple in Amritsar as he takes part in a groundbreaking ceremony for the Kartarpur Corridor in Pakistan's Kartarpur on November 28, 2018. Pakistan had last week announced that it would develop the corridor on their respective side of the border to help Indian pilgrims visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur. The Kartarpur corridor aims to ease travel for Indian pilgrims visiting one of the holiest sites of the Sikh faith in Pakistan.

Earlier, speaking about Sidhu's August visit to Pakistan for which he had received severe criticism from all quarters, Khan said he did not understand why Sidhu had to face such a reception back home in India.

An election victory would see Espy become the first African-American U.S. senator from MS since Reconstruction. President Donald Trump did not address incendiary remarks made by interim Sen.

"We will keep improving the Kartarpur darbar for you", Imran Khan told thousand of Sikh pilgrims from both India and Pakistan who were present at the ceremony. He compared the situation to that of France and Germany - they fought many wars and there was a lot of bloodshed but their leaders chose to move forward.

Imran Khan said that there have been "mistakes on both sides" and asserted that the two sides should not live in the past.

Owing to India's refusal to attend, Pakistan will not be able to convene the event for the third year now.

Senior Indian journalist Jyoti Malhotra on Wednesday lauded Prime Minister Imran Khan's message for peace and slammed the Modi government's "irresponsible" response to the opening of Kartarpur border corridor, ARY News reported. We don't have the strength and determination to say that whatever happens, we will fix this relationship, he said.

"If India takes one step forward, we will take two steps forward in friendship", he reiterated. "He was just talking about peace and brotherhood", he said.

The prime minister promised the Sikh community that his administration would ensure modern facilities at Kartarpur when they come to celebrate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji next year.

He said Sidhu has such a large fan following in Pakistan, specially in the country's Punjab province, that if he ran in elections here, he would win. "Both nations can benefit", Khan added.
