Trump strongly defends use of tear gas on caravan migrants

'Thank you President T': Trump congratulates himself as holiday break ends

President Trump said he would not hesitate to close the border altogether if he feels the USA might be losing "control".

A group of migrants climbed a fence as they tried to reach the US-Mexico border.

In a diplomatic memo to theUS Embassy in Mexico City on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Relations requested an "exhaustive investigation" into the use of non-lethal weapons by the United States toward Mexico, the ministry said in a statement.

Human rights and immigration advocates called the use of pepper spray on women and children inhumane.

American authorities also shut down the nation's busiest border crossing at San Ysidro for several hours at the end of the Thanksgiving weekend.

Trump explained the use of tear gas to the media, saying it's "safe" to use.

"Border Patrol agents have fired gas on the southwest border before and there doesn't appear to be any law against it, but the more important question is whether such an action was necessary to maintain order and protect lives", said Alex Nowrasteh, an immigration policy analyst at the libertarian Cato Institute.

Hamidou Diallo of Oklahoma City Thunder carted off with leg injury
After further evaluation Thursday, the team reported Diallo has a left ankle sprain and will be re-evaluated in 7-10 days. On the play in which he was injured, Diallo went up for a rebound and got tied up with Warriors forward Jonas Jerebko .

The Rev. James Martin, a Jesuit priest and author, decried the myths that have led Americans to turn their backs on migrants who have come to the border seeking asylum.

Rodney Scott, chief US Border Patrol agent in San Diego authorities had arrested 42 people.

On Sunday video footage showed scores of people attempt to push through the border fence. Or that Mexico's Interior Ministry said around 500 migrants tried to "violently" enter the USA, the Associated Press reported, adding that it would immediately deport those people and would reinforce security. And they're not following the legal process.

"Mexico should move the flag waving migrants, many of whom are stone cold criminals, back to their countries", he wrote.

"We're dealing with folks who've already been traumatized by what they have encountered in their march toward this country, and many of them are fleeing countries that the USA intervened in", Wane told hosts Eugene Puryear and Sean Blackmon, referring to the thousands of Honduran migrants fleeing circumstances caused by the US-supported 2009 coup in their home country. "Congress, fund the WALL!"

Democratic lawmakers and immigrant rights groups blasted the border agents' Sunday tactics. There can be no disagreement when it comes to firing tear gas on innocent families. "A large group rushed the area, and they were throwing rocks and bottles at my men and women, putting them in harm's way as well as other members of the caravan".

Border Patrol agents deployed tear gas to dispel the group because of the risk to agents' safety. Trump said, referring to his central election pledge to build a wall across the US-Mexico border. Asylum applications jumped 35 percent between fiscal year 2016 and 2017, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which was driven in part by a surge in applications from people fleeing violence in Central America and Mexico.
