Manafort accused of sharing 2016 election data with Russians

Can you redact that suit jacket though

Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team said Manafort "lied about sharing polling data with Mr. Kilimnik related to the 2016 presidential campaign". Much of the information about Kilimnik was redacted in the filing, although Manafort admitted he conspired with Kilimnik to obstruct justice.

Manafort was among the first Americans charged in Mueller's investigation and has been among the central characters in the case, having led the campaign during the Republican convention and as, United States intelligence officials say, Russian Federation was working to sway the election in Trump's favor.

A spokeswoman for Deripaska has said he was never offered or received briefings about the Trump campaign.

Manafort's legal team argued in the filing that his client had been intensely busy managing Trump's White House campaign, and could not recall every communication.

Paul Manafort has been accused of lying about his sharing of polling data from 2016 with a Russian man. "He also suffers from depression and anxiety and, due to the facility's visitation regulations, has had very little contact with his family". So one question here is whether these meetings and disclosures constituted the Trump campaign working with the Russians, or whether they constituted Manafort sucking up to a creditor-or perhaps both.

The Russian citizen was a long-time employee of Manafort's political consulting firm and had done extensive lobbying work for him in Ukraine on behalf of the country's then pro-Russian President, Viktor Yanukovych.

The judge in DC federal court who has overseen his case, Amy Berman Jackson, gave him the opportunity to respond before she would hold a hearing about the facts of the situation.

Adam Gase to become Jets head coach, per report
Worst case scenario, if a McCarthy hiring didn't pan out, at least, for once, they gave the fan base someone they wanted. The coach seems to be taking the approach of sitting out for a season and letting the ideal job to fall into his lap.

The Government has indicated that Mr. Manafort's statements about this payment are inconsistent with those of others, but the defense has not received any witness statements to support this contention.

Additionally, the US Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled against a mystery foreign company for defying a grand jury subpoena related to the special counsel's inquiry. He pleaded guilty a year ago to conspiracy charges in Washington and faces sentencing in a separate case in Virginia, though none of the charges are directly concerned with the alleged collusion between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign.

The previously unknown allegation adds to mounting evidence that contacts between Russians and the Trump campaign were more than just incidental, though Mueller has yet to make a case that there was any conspiracy that involved the campaign.

Federal prosecutors convinced a jury in August 2018 to convict Manafort on eight of 18 bank and tax fraud charges in a trial in NY.

Manafort told a colleague in February - four months after he was indicted - that he was in contact with a senior administration official through that time, prosecutors said in accusing him of lying.

For the two charges he now faces in DC federal court, Manafort could receive 17 to 22 years in prison, his plea agreement says. In return for his cooperation, he hoped to have prosecutors recommend leniency, possibly slicing years off his prison term.

Prosecutors said Manafort also lied about the circumstances of a $125,000 wire transfer in 2017. Manafort "lied in multiple ways and on multiple occasions", prosecutors wrote, saying "these were not instances of mere memory lapses".
