U.K. Parliament Warned on No-Deal Brexit as Nissan Backs Out

Government Ministers Meet For Their Weekly Cabinet Meeting

British Prime Minister Theresa May told business leaders in Northern Ireland Tuesday that she is seeking changes to the Brexit withdrawal agreement but not the total removal of the backstop plan that is the most contentious part of the deal.

In the morning, the prime minister will meet Jean Claude Juncker, the European commission president, and meet Donald Tusk, the president of the European council in the afternoon.

At meetings in Belfast, May tried to tackle the biggest obstacle to getting a deal ratified by the British parliament - an insurance policy covering the possible future arrangements for the border between EU-member Ireland and the British province of Northern Ireland.

" There is the potential for a deal because the European Union has suggested ways in which the border can be sorted between Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic in the event of a no-deal".

"The prime minister has come here empty-handed, with the same old rhetoric, with no plan, no credibility, frankly no honor", said Mary Lou McDonald, president of the Irish nationalist party Sinn Fein.

The spokesman also said it was "simply not true" that the Government was drawing up plans for the evacuation of the Queen from Buckingham Palace in the case of civil unrest after a no-deal Brexit.

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Theresa May, has said that "there will be no hard border" on the island of Ireland.

"We expect that the backstop would never be used", Varadkar said.

Some are arguing that the planned transition period, whereby Britain follows the rules of the European single market for a period after the scheduled March 29 exit date, is extended until the end of 2021 to give negotiators time to thrash out an alternative plan.

She also reported to police that Marks had broken into her home in August while her nine-year-old daughter was there. Last month, he was arrested in MI for allegedly breaking into Scott's home in Temple, Texas, according to KCEN .

She said that she understands how "thousands of people" move back and forward between Northern Ireland and Ireland every day "to go to work, to see family, and to do their shopping".

At the heart of the changes being demanded by Conservative Eurosceptics is the removal of the so-called "backstop", created to keep the Irish border open in the absence of a broader trade deal.

He said Britain's political instability was another proof of why the backstop was needed.

"We need to bear in mind that this majority that did exist in the House of Commons for "alternative arrangements" probably only exists because alternative arrangements can mean whatever you want them to mean", Mr Varadkar said.

Nationalists and many business leaders fear major disruption to trade and a hard border threatening peace process gains if no deal is struck and the backstop is not triggered.

In a statement in Belfast yesterday, the British Prime Minister said Home Secretary Sajid Javid would examine issues surrounding difficulties faced by residents of Irish nationality in bringing family members into Northern Ireland.

In his Daily Telegraph column, Mr Johnson said the Conservatives would go into an early election with "a hole in the heart of our manifesto" because they do not have a settled European Union policy. That is, while the UK Cabinet and EU-27 agreed the backstop a year ago, many Brexiteers in May's Conservative Party, and also MPs representing the Northern Irish Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), who are propping up the government, are vehemently opposed.

It would see the United Kingdom enter into a temporary customs union with the EU if no trade deal is sealed by the end of a transition period after Brexit, which lasts until December 2020 and could be extended to the end of 2022.
